Ahmad Shah of Pahang was born on a Friday afternoon, amidst the opulence of Istana Mangga Tunggal in Pekan, Pahang, on 24 October 1930. He was the only son of Sultan Abu Bakar Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mu’azzam Shah and his official and royal consort, Tengku Ampuan Besar Raja Fatimah binti Almarhum Sultan Iskandar Shah Kaddasullah.
The late Ahmad Shah served as the Sultan from 1974 till January 15 th, 2019, when he abdicated due to ill-health.
