Oct 8, 2002 · There also seem to be similarities, maybe homages, to an earlier gangster film, "Performance", with James Fox and Mick Jagger. But the comparison just makes "Gangster No. 1" look bad. The characters don't seem like real people, just meat puppets jerked around on wires. Taken as a whole, what this is, is an anti-gangster film film.
