The eighth edition of the Deloitte Global Boardroom Program’s Women in the boardroom: A global perspective finds that women hold less than one-quarter of the world’s board seats (23.3% in 2023).
Mar 7, 2024 · 7 March 2024 – Deloitte Global today released the eighth edition of Women in the Boardroom: A Global Perspective. The report reveals that women hold less than a quarter (23.3%) of board seats globally, a 3.6 percentage point increase since the report’s last edition was published in 2022.
The Deloitte Global Boardroom Program's 8th edition of its Women in the Boardroom: A Global Perspective report analysed more than 18,000 companies in 50 countries and geographies, exploring representation of women in the boardroom, as well as insights on the political, social, and legislative trends behind these numbers.
Feb 2, 2022 · As was seen in previous editions, this year’s report revealed a clear correlation between women in top leadership roles and women in the boardroom. The most diverse boards tend to be found at companies with women chief executive officers (CEOs) or chairs.
MSCI, an analyst group that tracks gender diversity of corporate boards, has reported that 38% of companies in its All Country World Index had at least 30% of their board positions filled by women in 2022. MSCI considers this a milestone, with women’s share of boardroom seats having increased in small increments over the past five years.
