Blue tits made a nest about a week ago in a nestbox and I have since been hearing a constant tapping from inside, like a woodpecker. The box is on the wall of my house and I can hear the tapping for ten minutes or so several times a day, long after the nest was finished.

The sound of our roosting Blue Tits tapping away, was worrying, until we realised what was making the noise. I once lined an old box with cork floor tiles, cosy for the tits i thought.

The camera worked beautifully showing the Blue Tit roosting over winter when spring came as it started to build the camera died. I tried contacting Handykam and they seem to have disappeared. The question is what to replace the camera with.

Hi Mangetout, I'm no expert in blue tit behaviour, but it sounds to me like the bird in the box at night is roosting, and jusr using it to spend the night. It may or may not lead to a nest being built. If your kids see a pair checking it out during the day, you may well have a pair of future tenants.
