Mar 23, 2007 · This writer must be playing with the convention - the usual form is right-hand man, so he says left-hand man to catch the attention. It might also be to do with the fact that the left (sinister) side is regarded as dubious, even possibly devilish. Nobody in Russia was allowed to write left-handed, for instance.
