Windows Live Mail (WLM) distinguishes between signing-in with a Microsoft Account (to load the account-specific contacts list and calendar), and logging-on to a mail server (to send and receive mail). If you are being asked to sign-in, this has nothing to do with your mail accounts; it indicates there may be a problem in your Microsoft Account.
Live mail isn’t compatible with newer email standards so is liable to fail at any long , which appears to be what may have happened here. I would recommend using the Mail app as a replacement. This guide gives instructions on how to setup the app with your email account:

Try running the game in Compatibility mode to help you to sign in into the game. Or use the version that has been built for Windows 10.
