Magdalene College (/ ˈ m ɔː d l ɪ n / MAWD-lin) is a constituent college of the University of Cambridge. The college was founded in 1428 as a Benedictine hostel, in time coming to be known as Buckingham College , before being refounded in 1542 as the College of St Mary Magdalene .
Magdalene admits roughly 100 undergraduate students each year for all courses offered by the University of Cambridge, and roughly 80 postgraduate students. Our small annual intake helps to foster a family atmosphere and a close-knit community.
Magdalene College has the advantage of an attractive and convenient location on the banks of the River Cam, with the longest waterfront of all the Cambridge Colleges, and less than 5 minutes’ walk from the city centre.

The Cambridge English course is divided into two parts. The first part gives you a strong foundational knowledge of literature across the centuries. The second allows you to explore your own interests in more depth. You’re introduced to the full range of English literature from the Middle Ages to the present day.
