Through cinema and installation, Onyeka Igwe’s (b. 1986, London) multidisciplinary practice examines little-known historic events by collecting and combining documentary sources including government records, official reports, material artifacts, and personal memory, as well as gesture, voice, dance, and song.
Onyeka Igwe is a London-based artist and researcher who works with cinema and installation. She explores colonial moving images, dance, voice, archives, sound design and text in her non-fiction video work.
No Dance, No Palaver is a series of 3 works; Her Name in My Mouth (2017), Sitting on a Man (2018) and Specialised Technique (2018), which cover research into the Aba Women's War of 1929.
