Dakxinkumar Bajrange is an award winning filmmaker, playwright and an activist from the Chhara De-notified Tribes of Ahmedabad in the western part of India. He is a recipient of Ford Foundation International Fellowship (2010-11) to study Graduate studies in ‘Theatre and Global Development’ at the University of Leeds , UK.
Dakxin Chhara comes from a de-notified tribe in Ahmedabad, in western India. For the tribe, it has always been difficult to get the treatment they deserve since they have always been regarded as ‘criminals’. Chhara shares his experiences on how he helped the tribe members get a basic income and permanent homes with the help of theater.
