Eric Gordon Tipton (April 20, 1915 – August 29, 2001) was an American professional baseball left fielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Philadelphia Athletics and Cincinnati Reds. Also known as a college football player, Tipton was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1965.

During Tipton's varsity days at Duke, the Blue Devils amassed an incredible 25 victories against only four defeats, winning the Southern Conference championship in 1936 and 1938. The 1938 team will never be forgotten.
Following a stellar undergraduate gridion career at Duke and a 15-year stint in the professional baseball ranks that included 501 Major League game appearances, Eric Tipton carved a sterling head coaching career at Army, becoming the Academy's all-time wins leader in both baseball and sprint football.
