Sep 26, 2009 · Overview. Komaki is a thirty-something woman that has had it with her perpetually unemployed aspiring writer husband. Following the divorce, she moves back to her Tokyo-area hometown of Kyojima along with her young daughter, Non-chan. However, she has a difficult time making ends meet in big city Tokyo. Her solution?
For a single mother in her 30s with no qualifications and no experience, finding a decent job is not easy. When she discovers that her "Noriben" bento is a big hit at her daughter's kindergarten she comes up with a brilliant idea.
Akira Ogata's drama is a strange mix of confection and bleaker subject matter: Komaki (Manami Konishi) leaves her directionless husband with her daughter and tries to make it on her own, discovering a talent for making 'noriben' lunch boxes.
After the ‘noriben’ lunch box (a “bento” featuring toasted “nori” (seaweed) on rice) that she packed for Non-chan becomes a huge hit at school, Komaki decides to try and make ends meet by opening her own “bento” shop and offering inexpensive but undoubtedly delicious food.
