Rajkahini is a Bengali drama starring Joya Ahsan, Rituparna Sengupta and Jisshu Sengupta, directed by Srijit Mukherjee. Begum Jaan runs a brothel in a village in Bengal, bordering India and Pakistan.
The main plot revolves around a group of women who are in flesh trade, lives in one House (brothel) headed by Begum Jaan (Rituparna). Begum Jaan who is a fierce & head strong, takes care of the well being of all inmates with no remorse.
In August 1947, the British passed a bill regarding the partition of Bengal. Delving into the grim history of the Partition, Mukherjee's movie Rajkahini is woven around a border between the two nations that runs through a brothel housing 11 women.
