Escape from Noise is the fourth studio album by Negativland. It marked the band's first release on an established independent record label, SST Records. On the album, they continued to develop their experimental style, as well as incorporating elements of pop music with shorter tracks and more conventional melodies.

From the beginning to the end, each song analyzes the terrible state of living in a noisy, high-anxiety world, and repeatedly asks “Is there any escape… from noise?!?”.
"Escape from Noise" proves that, no, there is no escape. Sculpt sound or find yerself beaten by inane thoughts that make you think, 'Sound is chasing me. Christianity is stupid. I had to throw it away. Negativland is good. Communism is good. Good is good. This music is bad'.

Mark Allen Mothersbaugh (/ ˈ m ʌ ð ər z b ɔː /; born May 18, 1950) is an American musician and composer. He came to prominence in the late 1970s as co-founder, lead singer and keyboardist of the new wave band Devo , whose " Whip It " was a top 20 single in the US in 1980, peaking at No. 14, and which has since maintained a cult following .
