'A World Lit Only By Fire' is an angry and gloomy motherfucker. From the start, you're being battered with pummeling, gritty low end, piercing dissonance and industrial cold. It paints a dystopian picture in my mind - of bulldozers slowly crawling through a wasteland and people hiding in sheer panic, hungry and desperate for a glimpse of hope.
In short, A World Lit Only by Fire is a solid return for Godflesh: the record's production is top-notch and modern, the "djentesque" riffs are fantastically catchy and heavy, the vocals are amazing, the songs are fun, groovy and crushing and there's a lot of textures in the background.
