Anastasia Valeeva is a Russian freelance journalist specialized in investigative reporting and open data. Since 2012 she is based in Europe where, as a freelancer, she has been writing and producing pieces about politics and society for Esquire Russia, Open Democracy, TV Rain, Russia Beyond the Headlines, Cafebabel and other outlets.
Oct 23, 2017 · As one of Russia’s few data journalists, Anastasia Valeeva has trained dozens of journalists in the former Soviet Union, the Balkans and Europe. Her recent study for the Reuters Institute at Oxford University delved into the ways investigative journalists are using open data in Russia.
Anastasia Valeeva was a data fellow at The Marshall Project. She joined the data team as part of the Alfred Friendly fellowship program run by Press Partners. Previously, she was teaching data journalism to students and newsrooms in Kyrgyzstan, Central Asia.
