Günther "Jim" Rakete (German: [dʒɪm ʁakeːtə]; born 1 January 1951) is a German photographer, photojournalist, filmmaker, writer and producer based in Berlin. [1] Rakete shot numerous personalities from the German and international music and film scene and politics.
Jim Rakete ist ein bekannter deutscher Fotograf, der vor allem für seine Porträts von Prominenten aus Musik, Film und Politik bekannt ist. Er wurde 2018 mit dem Verdienstorden der Bundesrepublik Deutschland ausgezeichnet und drehte 2020 den Film Now über Klimaschutz.
Film, theatre and music remain Rakete’s passion. He photographs big brands and big stars, receives international commissions and in the meantime also works in Los Angeles and Hamburg. His pictures of Jimi Hendrix, Ray Charles, Mick Jagger, David Bowie and Herbert Grönemeyer have become icons.
