Evgeniy Matveev was born on 8 March 1922 in Novoukrainka, Ukrainian SSR [now Kherson Oblast, Ukraine]. He was an actor and director, known for Lyubov zemnaya (1975), Beshenye dengi (1982) and Smertnyy vrag (1972). He died on 1 June 2003 in Moscow, Russia.
