Viacheslav Alexandrovich "Slava" Fetisov MP (Russian: Вячеслав Александрович Фетисов; born 20 April 1958) is a Russian former professional ice hockey defenceman, coach, politician and sports official.
Viacheslav Fetisov is a former NHL player who played for New Jersey and Detroit from 1989 to 1998. He won two Stanley Cups, the Calder Trophy, and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2001.
Vyacheslav Fetisov is considered the greatest defenseman ever produced by the Soviet Union ice hockey leviathan. He was considered “the Bobby Orr of the Soviet Union,” and no less an authority than Wayne Gretzky called him “the best I've ever played against.”.
