Catriona Ann Le May Doan, OC (born December 23, 1970) is a retired Canadian speed skater and a double Olympic champion in the 500 m. She served as the chef de mission for Team Canada at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
Sep 18, 2011 · Le May Doan was the world’s dominant female sprinter of the 1997-98 season. In November 1997 she became the first woman to break the 38-second barrier in the 500m, skating it in 37.90 seconds in Calgary.

Saskatoon’s Catriona LeMay Doan has been a force in women’s speed skating ever since she took up the sport at age nine. She joined the Saskatoon Lions Speed Skating Club in 1980 and was soon showing signs of greatness in this sport winning the city championship and ultimately the Canadian bantam championship in her first year of competition.
