Fred Wallace Haise Jr. (/ h eɪ z / HAYZ; born November 14, 1933) is an American former NASA astronaut, engineer, fighter pilot with the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Air Force, and a test pilot. He is one of 24 people to have flown to the Moon , having flown as Lunar Module pilot on Apollo 13 .

Haise joined NASA in 1959 as a Research Pilot at NASA Lewis Research Center and NASA Flight Research Center before joining the Astronaut Office in 1966. He was assigned as a backup crewman on Apollo Missions 8, 11, and 16 and flew as the Lunar Module Pilot on the incredible Apollo 13 Mission.
