The Wasted Times (simplified Chinese: 罗曼蒂克消亡史; traditional Chinese: 羅曼蒂克消亡史; pinyin: Luómàndìkè xiāowáng shǐ) is a 2016 Chinese-Hong Kong thriller film directed by Er Cheng and starring Ge You, Zhang Ziyi and Tadanobu Asano. It was released in China and the United States on December 16, 2016.

During the turbulent times of the Sino-Japanese War and World War II, events unfold that will test loyalties and the endurance of the human spirit. Lu (Ge You) is a ruthless Chinese mob boss whose alliance is tested when he is approached to collaborate with Japanese military occupiers.
The Wasted Times. Set in war-torn 1930s Shanghai, Mr. Lu is ambushed during a meeting with the Japanese army but is saved by Watabe, his brother-in-law, who sacrifices his life to save him. Mr. Lu`s family, however, ends up getting killed by the Japanese.
