Notorious Affair was Kay Francis’s ninth film and the one which authors Lynn Kear and John Rossman insist made Kay Francis “unforgettable” with movie audiences. Not only does she steal the picture as the nymphomaniac “Countess Olga Balakireff,” but director Lloyd Bacon seemed to have been stolen by Kay himself.
Patricia Hanley disturbs a dinner planned for her engagement to an aristocrat by announcing her marriage to violinist Paul Gherardi. Through the help of Patricia and Countess Balakireff, Paul achieves fame; but he soon collapses from overwork.
