Jeff and Mari Thompson are contently married, but they are stunned to see many of their friends and neighbors going through separations and divorces. Seemingly surrounded by people with domestic problems, Jeff and Mari begin to question their own relationship.
Mari and Jeff Thompson are happily married, until the experience of seeing all of their friends divorcing makes them obsessive about keeping their marriage together. This new insecurity about the stability of their union is made worse when they meet Barbara and Jeff finds himself attracted to her.
The film starred George Segal and Natalie Wood as a California couple in the late 1970s struggling to maintain their "happily married" status as all their friends begin to get divorces and seem to be caught up in the decadence of the sexual revolution and the "ME" era.
