On the night of Christmas Eve in the late 1950s, Hero Boy is woken up by a train called the Polar Express stopping on the street outside of his house that is about to travel to the North Pole. When the Conductor invites Hero Boy onboard, he is reluctant at first, but changes his mind and jumps on as the train leaves.
