Sep 8, 2010 · "Soul Kitchen" couldn't be more unlike those movies; it's a shaggy, messy, screwy comedy based on the food-industry experiences of Bousdoukos, the film's star and Akin's best friend since childhood.
In a run-down warehouse district called Soul Kitchen, chef Zinos Kazantsakis runs his restaurant with little more than a wing and prayer. Despite the rather mediocre menu, he has a regular clientelle who seem to enjoy the low prices and friendly atmosphere.
His girlfriend Nadine has moved to Shanghai, his “Soul Kitchen” customers are boycotting the new gourmet chef, and he’s having back trouble! Things start looking up when the hip crowd embraces his revamped culinary concept, but that doesn’t mend Zinos’ broken heart.
