Carmel Jean Sepuloni (born 1977) is a New Zealand politician who served as the 20th deputy prime minister of New Zealand. A member of the Labour Party, she was first elected to Parliament in 2008 for a three-year term as a list Member of Parliament (MP) and was re-elected as MP for Kelston in 2014.
Carmel Sepuloni is the MP for Kelston and the Deputy Prime Minister since January 2023. She has a background in health and education, and has advocated for social justice, disability rights and Pacific issues.
Carmel Sepuloni is a Samoan, Tongan and New Zealand European MP who has served in various ministerial portfolios, including Social Development and Employment, Arts, Culture and Heritage, and Auckland. She is the Deputy Leader of the Labour Party and the first Pacific woman to be Deputy Prime Minister of New Zealand.
