Dame Wendy Hall DBE FRS FREng MAE FIET (born 25 October 1952) is a British computer scientist. She is Regius Professor of Computer Science at the University of Southampton.
Dame Wendy Hall is a leading researcher and advisor in web science, artificial intelligence and data science. She is a Dame Commander of the British Empire, a Fellow of the Royal Society and the ACM, and co-Chair of the UK AI Review.
In 2017, Dame Wendy was co-Chair of the UK government’s AI Review, which was published in October 2017. She became a member of the AI Council and was appointed the first UK AI Skills Champion in 2018. She was Chair of the Ada Lovelace Institute (2020-2023).
Dame Wendy became the second Regius Professor in Computer Science in recognition of her world-leading contribution to Computer Science and to the scientific community more widely as well as her leadership at the forefront of Web Science.
