Peidong Yang (simplified Chinese: 杨培东; traditional Chinese: 楊培東; pinyin: Yáng Peídōng; born 1971) is a Chinese–American chemist, material scientist, and businessman. He is currently a professor at the University of California, Berkeley (since 1999) and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .
Peidong Yang, a UC Berkeley chemist who is trying to capture carbon dioxide from the air and turn it into a sustainable transportation fuel, has been named a MacArthur “genius” Fellow.
Peidong Yang is a renowned chemist and nanoscience expert who leads the Kavli Energy Nanoscience Institute and the California Research Alliance by BASF. He has received many awards and honors, including the MacArthur Fellowship, the E. O. Lawrence Award, and the Baekeland Medal.
Semiconductor systems with photon, phonon and/or electron confinement in two dimensions (i.e. nanowires) offer a distinct way to study electrical, thermal, mechanical, and optical phenomena as a function of dimensionality and size reduction.
