The Winds of War is a 1983 American war drama television miniseries, based on the 1971 novel of the same name written by Herman Wouk. It was produced and directed by Dan Curtis, while Wouk adapted his own novel to screen.
Plot. In 1939 Navy Commander Victor "Pug" Henry has been appointed US Naval attaché in Berlin. During the voyage to Europe aboard SS Bremen, Victor befriends a British radio personality, Alistair Talcott "Talky" Tudsbury, his daughter, Pamela, and a German submarine officer, Commodore Grobke.
Based on Herman Wouk's novel, this 1983 TV miniseries follows the Henry family and their friends through the early years of World War II. Starring Robert Mitchum, Ali MacGraw, Jan-Michael Vincent and others, it won 3 Primetime Emmys and received critical acclaim.
