Loch Muick (/ ˈ m ɪ k /; Gaelic: Uisge Muice (pronounced [ɯʃkʲəˈmɯçkʲə])) is an upland, freshwater loch lying approximately five miles (eight kilometres) south of Braemar, Scotland at the head of Glen Muick and within the boundary of the Balmoral estate.
This fairly level circuit of grand Loch Muick on the Balmoral Estate provides good views of the surrounding hills and pleasant stopping places. The walk takes in the impressive Glas-allt Shiel house built by Queen Victoria from where there is an optional detour to see some waterfalls.
Loch Muick is located 8 miles south west of Ballater in Aberdeenshire, and is part of the Balmoral Estate. Loch Muick is found at the foot of Lochnagar, one of Scotland’s finest mountains. The area has many walking routes and a variety of wildlife including grouse and deer.
