Dec 1, 2016 · This was Seiko’s second automatic chronograph movement, after 1969’s 6139, and it added a second register to count hours (up to 12). Unlike the 6139, the 6138 can actually be hand wound (yay!!!) and the crown adjusts the day and date by turning it in either direction after pulling out one stop.

During the 1970’s Seiko released dozens of automatic chronograph models, most notably their 6138 (dual subregister) and 6139 (single subregister) line. Out of this group came several watches that have since become cult collector classics, with memorable nicknames like the “Pogue”, “Bullhead”, and “Kakume”.

Sep 4, 2017 · The word “bullhead” is an umbrella term used for a chronograph watch that has its crown and chronograph pushers on top of the case (in some cases, the crown is at the bottom of the case) rather than on the side, hence resembling the head of a bull with its horns.
