In addition, anyone below pension age ought to be concerned about chipping away at the state pension because it sets a dangerous precedent, and who knows what meagre offerings might be available by the time they come to retire.

Sep 10, 2024 · No I'm not talking just about well paid jobs. If you worked for 35 years+ even in low paid jobs, you get full state pension, and in many situations no private pension. If you're on full state pension you're above the pension credit limit, which means you don't get the winter fuel payment.

That might seem like a high figure but we have people on £25k a year defending the rights of billionaires not to pay more tax so hopefully that number would still allow people to dream of winning the Euromillions without thinking they would be next.
