Murvaul is a rural unincorporated community in south-central Panola County, Texas, United States, on Farm to Market Road 10 and Murvaul Creek, eight miles south of Carthage. The area was settled by European-Americans in the early 1860s.
Lake Murvaul is located ten miles southwest of Carthage on Murvaul Creek in the Sabine River basin in Panola County three miles south of Clayton and 14 miles north of Timpson. Bring your family to camp or picnic at the Murvaul campground and swim, boat, fish and paddle on the lake.
The lake is 3,800 acres with a clean swimming area, restrooms, a playground, three fishing piers, a fish cleaning house, and free boat launch ramps. We have 12 newly remodeled cabins, a lodge, and a Lakehouse with a view of the lake and basic amenities. All of our cabins include linens and towels with rental.

The reservoir received national recognition in the 1960s for its trophy bass production and continues to produce bass over 8 lbs.
