Von Arnim’s former manor house – Schloss Criewen – was recently renovated and now houses the Brandenburgische Akademie Schloss Criewen.
Criewen ist eine vormals eigenständige Gemeinde mit 515 Einwohnern, die seit dem 1. August 2001 zu Schwedt/Oder gehört. Sie liegt nahe der polnischen Grenze, direkt angrenzend an den Nationalpark Unteres Odertal. Criewen wurde erstmals 1354 urkundlich erwähnt und ist somit eines der ältesten beurkundeten slawischen Fischerdörfer.

Between 1816 and 1826, on the initiative of the landowner Arnim in Criewen, the old village was torn down and rebuilt further to the east. This created space for his landscape park to be built according to plans by the landscape architect Peter Joseph Lenné.
