Mar 30, 2022 · CHICAGO—March 30, 2022—Beginning during his time at Illinois Institute of Technology while completing a master’s degree in computer science, Jack Dongarra (M.S. CS ’73) created code and led the development of concepts that allowed software to keep up with the exponential growth in hardware for more than 40 years.

Jack Dongarra received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Chicago State University in 1972 and a Master of Science in Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1973. He received his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of New Mexico in 1980.
