August Horch (12 October 1868 – 3 February 1951) was a German engineer and automobile pioneer, the founder of the manufacturing giant that eventually became Audi .
It all began with August Horch, one of Germany's pioneering personalities automobile engineers. After graduating from the Technical Academy in Mittweida, Saxony he worked on engine construction and later as head of the motor vehicle production department of the Carl Benz company in Mannheim.

August Horch was a genius of mechanical engineering and one of the earliest contributors to the development of the automobile. His first job in the industry came courtesy of Karl Benz, who hired him to manage his factory in Mannheim.
