The Kitsilano Secondary School site is comprised of a joined complex of buildings built separately in the Kitsilano neighbourhood of Vancouver between 1911 and 1973, a playing field, a blacktop multiple games area, a blacktop parking area and driveway, and some formal landscaped areas in front of the 1911 building.
GENERAL SCHOOL STORY (TO BE UPDATED EACH YEAR) Kitsilano Secondary School is a dual track school that has a school population of approximately 1600 students in grades 8 to 12: 952 regular program students, 600 French Immersion students and 48 students enrolled in one of three onsite district education programs. The present building was erected in 1924 and became known as the Kitsilano Junior Senior High School - the first of its kind in Canada. It commenced operations on September 6th, 1927, with a total enrolment of 1,275 pupils and teachers. A lot of the graduates of 1971 started in Grade 7 at Kits in September of 1965.
