He was chosen as Time magazine's Man of the Year in 1997. In 1998, he stepped down as CEO of Intel, but continues as chairman of the board.

Andrew S. Grove was born in Budapest, Hungary, on 2 September 1936. He earned a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree from the City College of New York, and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1963. After graduating, he joined Fairchild Semiconductor and in 1968, he helped found Intel Corporation.
