The highlight of this 1961 film might be Saul Bass' opening title sequence, exceptional as usual. There's also some terrific footage of New York throughout. More importantly, the first half of Something Wild takes a brave, daring approach to a very difficult subject.

It didn’t turn up in revival houses, mentions in reference books were scarce at best and if the title did happen to come up somehow, most people probably mistook it for the 1986 Jonathan Demme movie of the same name.

Dec 20, 2011 · I remember reading about the 1961 film "Something Wild" years ago, but only recently learned it was released on dvdin 2011 by MGM's limited-edtion collection division. I've had the fine Aaron Copland cd soundtrack for years that wasreleased on Varese Sarabande in 2003, but always wanted to see the film.
