Kuala Lumpur-born Dr Yong Loo Lin graduated as a medical doctor from the University of Hong Kong in 1923. He established himself as a successful businessman in Hong Kong and was a strong advocate of education. Dr Yong passed away in 1959 and the Yong Loo Lin Trust was established by his family.

Research Programmes. The NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine has 16 departments in the basic sciences and clinical specialties and 7 centres, covering a full spectrum of medical specialties. Clinical faculty also staff the National University Hospital, which is the primary training institution for the School’s students.
