山崎 直子 （やまざき なおこ、 旧姓 ：角野（すみの）、 1970年 〈 昭和 45年〉 12月27日 - ）は、 宇宙飛行士 。 宇宙政策委員会 委員（ 2012年 7月 - ）、 女子美術大学 客員教授 （2014年4月 - ）。 千葉県 松戸市 生まれ。 来歴. プラネタリウム や ボイジャー が送ってきた画像、 アニメ の 宇宙戦艦ヤマト [1] などから影響を受け、また チャレンジャー号爆発事故 のニュースを受け「亡くなった宇宙飛行士たちの意思を引き継いで、宇宙の素晴らしさを子供たちに伝えたい」と思い、宇宙を志した [2] 。 東京大学大学院工学系研究科 修了後、 宇宙開発事業団 に入社。
