Im relatively new to horror and have been watching the recommended found footage films on here. I enjoyed both REC and V/H/S but outside of the last 15 minutes of REC I was only moderately scared throughout.

In the movie, the calligraphy hanging on the wall translates as "The Literate (Reading) People, 1970.11.03, written and presented by President Park Chung-Hee." Park initiated the military coup in 1961 to came into power, and was assassinated in 1979.
I judge a film as genuinely scary if it makes me feel like I have to look behind me... you know, to check for monsters lol. Gonjiam (2018) had at least two really great moments where I was definitely checking my blind spots. This was the first movie that genuinely freaked me out since I first saw Last Shift back in 2015.
What I mean I want movies like Gonjiam Haunted Asylum is that I want the paranormal and the style of recording. Not necessarily that they are live streaming it but that it's like a recording of what's going on through the characters.

By the way - after months of trying to find it… it’s a load of rubbish 😂a couple half decent parts towards the end but I was waiting for something to pull me in, and it just wasn’t there for me.
