Hans Hugo Harold Faltermeyer (born 5 October 1952 [1]) is a German musician, composer and record producer. Faltermeyer is best known for composing the "Axel F" [2] theme for the feature film Beverly Hills Cop, an influential synth-pop hit in the 1980s.

Harold Faltermeyer was born on 5 October 1952 in Munich, Bavaria, West Germany. He is a composer, known for Beverly Hills Cop (1984), Top Gun (1986) and Beverly Hills Cop II (1987). He was previously married to Karin Faltermeyer.
Harold Faltermeyer played synthesizer on Donna Summer's "Bad Girls" album along with executive producer Giorgio Moroder. Following his work with Laura Branigan on her 1984 album " Self Control ", he produced soundtracks for the motion pictures "Beverly Hills Cop" and "Top Gun" and won Grammy Awards for each of them.
