The "aud" (audience) claim identifies the recipients that the JWT is intended for. Each principal intended to process the JWT MUST identify itself with a value in the audience claim. When you assign a value to a variable, the type of the value becomes the type of the variable. It's a subtle difference, but different nonetheless.
