Thin-films composed of organized sub-wavelength optically resonant nanostructures produce unusual optical properties.

Additionally, we illustrate the error that results from an incorrect characterization of metafilms. We present various examples to emphasize these points.

We also present a retrieval approach for determining the uniquely defined quantities (the electric and magnetic polarizability densities of its constituent scatterers) that characterize a metafilm.
Metafilms was founded in Montreal (Qc, Canada) in 2003 to offer young, unusual creators the means to express their vision of cinema and life. To this day, Metafilms’ producers have produced 20 feature films, mainly fiction, 28 short fiction films and 6 video clips.
