Sultan of Pahang (سلطان ڤهڠ ) is the title of the hereditary constitutional head of Pahang, Malaysia. The current sultan is Al-Sultan Abdullah ibni Sultan Ahmad Shah . He is the Head of Islam in the state and the source of all titles, honours and dignities in the state.
Twenty-two years earlier, his father Abu Bakar had failed five times to be elected as the first Agong. A controversial, headstrong personality, he has often forced his chief ministers in Pahang to resign over minor differences. His favourite hobbies were playing football, golf, polo, and equestrian activities.

The Sultan Abu Bakar Palace, which is the official residence of the present sultan, is named after the late Sultan Abu Bakar Riayatuddin Al-Muadzam Shah. Completed in 1974, the palace sits on a nicely landscaped piece of land that once was a rubber plantation.
