Mar 27, 2019 · Mike Greco, who was known to connoisseurs of Italian cuisine as “the Salami King” and “the Mayor of Arthur Avenue,” and whose salumeria has catered to old neighbors, visiting politicians and insatiable Bronx expatriates for more than six decades, died March 22 in White Plains, New York. He was 89.

May 8, 2023 · A Bronx deli owner who served Little Italy for over 60 years is getting a street named in his honor. Hughes Avenue gained a new name on Monday after the late Mike Greco, who many knew as the Salami King of Arthur Avenue. Greco originated from Calabria, Italy, and came to the Bronx in 1947 to open up Mike’s Deli, a Bronx Little Italy staple.
