Max is the author of fourteen books, the writer and presenter of several documentary films and a former Royal Literary Fund Fellow in SELLL (2010-2013). He began his career as an archaeologist,excavating widely and publishing many papers and monographs.
Sep 10, 2015 · Max Adams takes us on a series of journeys through parts of the British Isles that are loaded with remnants of the Roman and Post-Roman era; dykes, footpaths, tumuli and ancient churches. Each journey is interspersed with a short walk along Hadrian's Wall.
Jun 4, 2016 · I am an archaeologist, woodsman and traveller. I live in the North-east of England where I write about landscape and history. My next non-fiction work, to be published in Autumn 2017, is called Alfred's Britain - a history and archaeology of the British Isles in the Viking Age.
Max Adams was born in London in 1961. In a varied career as an archaeologist, woodsman and broadcaster he has explored themes of landscape, knowledge and human connectedness with the earth. His first major work Admiral Collingwood: Nelson’s own hero was published in 2005.
