The Wailing (Korean: 곡성; Hanja: 哭聲; RR: Gokseong) is a 2016 South Korean horror film written and directed by Na Hong-jin and starring Kwak Do-won, Hwang Jung-min and Chun Woo-hee. The film centers on a policeman who investigates a series of mysterious killings and illnesses in a remote Korean village in order to save his daughter.

Within a seemingly peaceful village, a plague of mysterious & violent deaths suddenly take place. The police conclude poisonous wild mushrooms are the cause of the deaths. A Japanese stranger (Kunimura Jun) arrives in a sleepy little South Korean village – and disturbing things start to happen. A policeman named Jong Goo (Kwak Do Won) is called in to investigate, as villagers begin to report sightings of a flesh-eating, red-eyed demon.
