Kirk Wong Chi-Keung was born in Hong Kong in 1949. After graduating from high school, he attended Craydon College of Art in Leeds, England with the intent of becoming a fashion designer. During his studies, he became interested in stage and set design, and so upon his return to Hong Kong, he began work in that field.
